Buckhead Houston was a merger of Freedman Foods and Louisiana Seafood. Freedman was founded in 1991, bought by Sysco in 2001. Louisiana Seafood was founded in 1978 and acquired by Sysco in 2011. Both had distribution in Greater Houston Metropolitan Area, Galveston, College Station, and surrounding areas. Sister meat companies covered South Texas, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan, South Texas, Oklahoma, East Texas, and West Texas. Our current facility is a SQF Level 3 certified facility which is a worldwide recognized certification. We currently employ over 350 employees full time from office personnel, warehouse, drivers, production, and sales.
